Views of Copper Harbor

Rainy Sunday! Thinking back to the sunny days spent in Copper Harbor early this summer. I have so many images to share. I only wish that I could capture the scent of the clean air and pass that along too. I can think of nothing better than waking up and seeing Lake Superior the first thing in the morning. It makes one want to start the day and see what surprises it holds. Copper Harbor is a wonderful place to visit. It is very small, but very peaceful, the perfect place to relax and retreat from a busy world.
The first photo shows a series of stop signs and roads in Copper Harbor. There are several intersections that are comprised of four vacant lots. The second photo is another shot of the village of Copper Harbor taken from Brockway Mountain Drive at dusk. The boat that can be seen is the Isle Royale Queen IV. It takes people to Isle Royale National Park located in Lake Superior. The third and fourth photos are views of Copper Harbor, itself. The sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth photos are views of Copper Harbor, a very quaint and beautiful place.

Good afternoon! Looks like a chilly day too. Have you pulled the sweaters out yet?

This is a really good group of photos to depict that area...many that have not appeared in your photostream. Nice poppies by the fence.

You changed your blog title too! I like it.

Hi Donna,
I have just a few sweaters and sweatshirts out now, more will follow as the weather continues to cool. I knew you would enjoy a couple of these photos that I have not yet posted on Flickr. Thanks for the encouragement on the blog title. I was not happy at all with the old one.

Simply wonderful photography Elizabeth - truly excellent!! You have a great eye for photography.

I have been involved with photography all my life too. I started out working with my own B&W dark room at home as a kid in high school and purchased a Russian made Zenit-B 35mm SLR and developed my own film and prints.

Through high school I worked in a store selling cameras (Nikon, Pentax, Minolta, Mamiya-Sekor, Hasselblad, Yashica, Ricoh, etc). We sold SLRs primarily but some twin-lens reflex cameras too. Later in college, I worked for a photo lab (Rainbow Photos in Memphis) where I met a lot of professional photographers and developed and printed their work.

I'm strictly an amateur but I've seen the industry from most every angle and have really enjoyed it along the way. I said all that to say that I really like your work! I think you have a real gift.

What camera are you using if I might ask?

Keep up the great work. I hope you have enough wall space to hang all those wonderful photos!!!!

Jerry (Donna's older brother) ;O)

Hi Jerry,
Thank-you for your kind comments. It sounds as though you have been involved with photography for a very long time. I have shot these photos with my Olympus Evolt 510 and also sometimes use my film Nikon N75 and Canon A-E1.
